AJ To Do 'Johnny No-Name' Concert

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, will be performing as his alter-ego, Johnny No-Name, with the original Backstreet Boys Band (BSBBAND) on December 30, 2000 at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida.
Tickets will be on sale on Monday, December 18 at TicketMaster (Orlando TicketMaster Phone: 407-839-3900).

Anastacia 4 AJ?

According to WorldPop, US singer Anastacia has exclusively revealed to WorldPop that she will be planning a duet with Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, at some point in the future. AJ has admitted to being a big fan of the dance diva. AJ has now taken things a step further by requesting her to work with him on a track.

"It's definitely a possibility and something that I'd love to do," said Anastacia who's single, "I'm Outta Love" was topping charts earlier this year. "We have spoken about it and I'm hoping to meet up with AJ again soon to talk seriously about it. It's just time that's been keeping us apart. I'm sure it's going to happen, I'm just not sure when."

But don't expect AJ and Anastacia to be singing a Backstreet's Back style of song. Both are planning to do something a little more low key. "I'd either like to do a ballad or something mid-tempo," says Anastacia. "If it's a ballad I'd like it to be really heart wrenching, and if it's mid-tempo I'd like something with attitude. We wouldn't do a cover, we'd definitely write something. Or if we get offered a great song, they we may do that instead. I guess we'll have to see what destiny brings us."

BSB To Sing Anthem At Super Bowl

The Backstreet Boys will be singing the national anthem before the start of the NFL game during the Super Bowl XXXV, on January 28 in Tampa, Florida. Singer Ray Charles were also serenade the crowd and the enormous TV audience with "America The Beautiful."

Embellishments to the anthem--which have become standard practice--may reach an all-time high. The piece will be arranged by Rickey Minor, who produced Whitney Houston's over-the-top, Top 20-charting anthem for Super Bowl XXV. He now has to work with five voices.

The song will be punctuated by the engines of the Air Force Thunderbirds, who will roar over Raymond James Stadium at the conclusion of the song.

Other artists who have opened the Super Bowl include Cher, Luther Vandross, Jewel, Vanessa Williams and Faith Hill.

AJ McLean Is Still BSB's Wild One

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean is hoping to get some spiritual guidence--with the help of body art.

Backstreet's "bad boy," is planning to get a tattoo of the image of Christ on his chest. "I haven't had the time to get tattoos recently--but I know the one I want," AJ said. "Christ's hands across the heart will be fantastic. I know it's going to hurt. But it'll be so cool."

In other AJ news, the Backstreet Boy wants to duet with controversial rapper Eminem, but not as AJ McLean, as his alter-ego, Johnny No-Name. AJ said that "Johnny" could duet with Eminem because the character is a very angry person.

AJ also expressed an interest in planning a show inspired by Frank Sinatra's notorious '60s Rat Pack, with UK pop star Robbie Williams, although he hasn't contacted Robbie about the idea yet.

Kevin's Environment Foundation

To start the new Millennium, Backstreet Boys member Kevin Richardson has pledged his committment to reconnect people with their earth by creating an environmental foundation that will secure a future with cleaner air, water and soil. The Foundation, whose name will be announced soon, will focus on a number of environmental issues including toxic pollutants and the effects they have on all living things.

"We've got a unique and beautiful world here, but we're slowly poisoning ourselves to death and it's up to us to take care of it for our generation and future generations," Kevin said. "There are poisons in the air that we breath, the food that we eat and the water we drink, and some of those toxins just build up in your body and never leave. They say inside you and get passed down to your children and their children and so on. It's time to get to work and take action to improve the health of our homes and our families."

Kevin says his plans are to educate people about what's going on in their own backyards, holding polluters accountable for their actions and making sure people are aware of their everyday activities and how they effect the earth. But Kevin can't do it all alone, he needs your help. So check back to learn more about Kevin's foundation plans and how you can get involved.

Brian Shows The Shape Of His Healthy Heart Club For Kids

The Backstreet Boys have been busy promoting their new chart-topping album, Black & Blue for the last couple of months, but Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell has been even busier. Brian still remains active in his charitable organization, the Healthy Heart Club For Kids, which is a partnership with the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation in Lexington, Kentucky.

"We continuously hold fundraisers, and I donate money yearly to them," says Brian. "We've kind of branched out our accounts and our funds to funding the heart surgeries and funding scholarship programs and stuff like taht in the state of Kentucky, and we'are actually branching out." Brian says that funding could go nationwide with the Heart Foundation and the Healthy Heart Club to YMCAs across the nation. "That's what we're working on doing right now, which would be very, very beneficial to young kids and people of all ages that are born with a heart defect."

In 1980, Brian, then 5, was hospitalized in the pediatrics unit of Lexington's St. Joseph Hospital to threat a serious infection of the heart muscule. Brian was born with a ventricular septal defect, which is a small hole between the left and right ventricles of the heart. In 1998, Brian underwent successful elective surgery to correct it, and later that same year he stated his Healthy Heart Club For Kids, which offers education, exercise programs, and nutrition counseling for children with heart problems and those at risk. A committee consisting of physicians, administrators, several nurses, and others-including Brian's mother, Jackie, oversees the organization.
Brian told LAUNCH that he's glad his career allows him to lend a hand to people who might be experiencing heart problems similar to his. "It's always important to give back because I've received so many blessings in my life, and to be where I'm at success-wise and career-wise--it's amazing. You know, I can never forget, and to go back to that and be able to help other people is an amazing feat. It just bless my heart even more to know that I can do that, and that I'm in a situation to help out."

The Healthy Heart Club For Kids is currently running a promotion at sjhlex.org, where those who order a new Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club For Kids sweatshirt between now and February 1, 2001, are automatically entered in a contest to win a Healthy Heart Club For Kids T-shirt autographed by Brian.

For questions, comments, or to make a donation to Brian's Healthy Heart Club For Kids, visit sjhlex.org, call 877-942-7426 toll free, or email club coordinator Brandon Edgington at edgingbr@sjhlex.org.
